Covid-19: Preparing for Life After Lockdown

Covid-19 has turned our lives upside down.

Are you amongst the majority that have been unable to work?

Are you considering what your options are?

It is fortunate for those people and businesses which have still been able to work but it is very worrying for those that have come to a stand still.

We are living in uncertain times and as lockdown is extended, the reality for many businesses not being able to trade or even survive, takes form. It’s time to take back control.

We have to change

I am sure most of you jumped at doing all those things you have put off such as cleaning out the kitchen cupboards or painting your front room.

We find ourselves with too much time. So let’s use this time to create the future we want.

Ask yourself, “Am I Working to Live or Living to Work?”

Let’s change – do what you want to do and Work to Live!

Lockdown Tips

  1. Make a personal list of all the things you want to do aka a bucket list. Remember, be realistic!
  2. If you run a business, carry out a mini assessment. How has your business been performing? Is it the way you thought it would be? What would you change? Now, create a plan of action and then make a start.
  3. If you are in a job, are you happy? are you doing what you enjoy? would you like to learn something new? if you are not enjoying your job, take this time to really think about what you want to do and make a plan of action – change your job, start a business or choose further education. Make your decision and put your action plan in motion.

Tips for Businesses

You need to adapt your business so that it can carry on in full or in some form. In doing this, you are choosing to survive Covid-19; you have taken control of your future and I am sure you are no longer as stressed and anxious as you was before you took this step.

The Future is Digital

For most of us, the use of computers, tablets and phones is like having another limb. We can not live without it. Even nurseries are giving iPads to 2 year olds to use so we really can’t avoid Technology or deny a use for it.

A lot of us are already using Technology – Facebook, Watsapp, Instagram and Snapchat.

How can we use Technology for business?

You need to check what tools you are currently using and what other tools are available that could help you to work more digitally. By doing this, you can free up your time which can be used to make more money or improve your end user’s experience.

As an accountant, I recently came across Zoom. Zoom is a tool that offers a replacement to face to face meetings so its perfect; it saves time, it’s convenient and it’s free for meetings of forty minutes or less. You can download the app, and see & talk to each other using your computer or tablet. We all know that technology has enabled us to communicate via emails, watsapp, Facebook etc. – it’s quick, it’s easy and it’s real-time. Document sharing has also never been easier. Storage facilities such as One Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive are real time so sharing is instant and you save time and money by not having to drop off or post documents and paperwork.

Do it now

Use Technology to create a working environment that means you can work with or without the need for physical human interaction. You will have more time; time that can be used to grow your business, take on more clients and make more money.

If you are unsure where to start or need more information, we are ready to help you.
